Servo Berkel Prior is a leading player in the field of standard weighing equipment and large-scale industrial weighing units. Servo Berkel Prior was created at the end of 2005 by the merger of Servo Balans International and Berkel Prior. Thanks to this merger, many years of experience in standard weighing equipment and customised industrial solutions were successfully pooled. Successful start
Servo Balans N.V. was set up in 1934. For the first few years the company focused specifically on the production of "servo scales." Very soon came the steel strip scales (hybrid) that are used on a large scale in duplex scales, silo scales and platform scales. In a very brief period Servo Balans built itself a very good reputation and also had a very successful start. In the Fifties, steady growth continued. The export of rapid scales and servo scales took off and the company grew exponentially. One of its most important sales markets was the cattle fodder industry, rapidly followed by many other industrial sectors.

Exports grow
In the Sixties and Seventies Servo Balans became a leading player with an international reputation. A good 80% of its orders were now coming from abroad and the demand for Servo Balans's weighing products in the Netherlands also grew. The extremely successful duplex scales were now being sold in large volumes to top companies such as Douwe Egberts, Unilever (Honig) and Tate & Lyle (Zetmeelbedrijf de Bijenkorf). And the first silo scales were developed and went into production at this time.

Design and development
The start of the Eighties saw a lean time for the entire scales industry and this was also reflected in Servo Balans. But the drive and high level of professionalism, which was characteristic of Servo Balans, ensured a quick recovery. Servo Balans flourished like never before and continued with the development of technically superior products. The production of advanced weighing systems remained one of the spearheads and grew into an extremely successful division. By offering superior customised solutions Servo Balans has grown into a specialist partner in the industrial sector.

Bright future
Once the company merged in 2005 with Berkel Prior, the oldest scale manufacturer in the Netherlands, the whole organisation was finally up and running. Its wide range of standard products and the specialist industrial applications - together with the customised services - form a solid basis for Servo Berkel Prior's bright future.
